LANDSCAPES

LANDSCAPES

The process Claire uses to create her landscapes depends on how she reacts the the scene. If sensitivity to detail is needed Claire traces her design onto water soluble film. The traced design is then used with layers of snips of fabric and stitch to create the final work. There can be many layers of stitch and thread in a complex  image, this type of work can take weeks to complete.

Claire will use applique, glue, paint and stitch to create simple whimsical scenes. Claire creates these mixed media pieces when she is in a playful mood. Most of these works use small scraps of fabric that would usually be destined for landfill.
